USING MATCHES

CAUTION: For outdoor use by adults only. Carefully monitor lit matches until completely burned. Store extra strikers in protective sleeves after use to keep dry. Store matches separately from strikers to prevent accidental ignition.

PERFORMANCE TIPS:

  • For lighting a match, it is ideal if the striker is a firm surface which can usually be achieved by just closing the box.
  • If striker and box become wet, the striker will still work, but needs to dry first so that the surface is once again firm. Use a spare striker until then.
  • If matches become wet, just wipe dry before use.

SAFETY TIPS:

  • Strike away from the body or in a downwards position. Be careful of bystanders.
  • Be careful when striking the match since sparks can fly off the igniting head.
  • After using the match, run it in water to be certain that it will not light anything else on fire.

After several days of canoeing, camping, and fishing in the Boundary Waters. I found that you should have these UCO waterproof matches with you. The weather is unpredictable and you need to be prepared for any situation in the wilderness. With these matches and a homemade fire-starter, dinner was served, coffee was hot, and dishes were washed in hot water. Thanks UCO!

Excellent Outdoor Matches

These matches come in a very good wax-coated carrying box that does not collapse as other boxes might. Upon striking the match head comes to life in a smokey slow-burning kind of way, but when fully lighted they burn very well, and last as long as advertised.

They fail to burn, somehow

Lights just fine, but cannot burn through the coating applied to the shaft of the match, meaning that the claimed burn time is literally unachievable. In a pinch, they *may* be able to set something alight, but youd be far better off buying the storm proof matches. I purchased these through a big-box retailer. For the price im not too bummed, but still, fire is the one thing man is supposed to have mastered!
