This is a nice little knife for what it is

This is a nice little knife for what it is, maybe good in an emergency kit or for times when you don't want to use your everyday pocket knife. I would give the knife a 3.5 to a 4.0 rating. The flipping action wasn't great when I first received it until I a adjusted the pivot screw (they do not give you a tool to do this). I found there was a fine line between a nice flipping action and too much blade play. Speaking to the blade, it was nice and sharp from the factory and should be easy to sharpen when necessary. I did not find the "thumb disk" to be all that helpful, except to provide a base to put your finger on to close the knife. The knife is basically a liner lock, with the liner a bit thin, so I'm not sure how this will hold up with heavy use - the scales are plastic and not all that robust. I like the minimal pocket clip and the knife does ride nicely in the pocket. It's okay for the price-point, but don't expect a robust EDC.

We’re glad to hear you found the Whidbey sharp out of the box, easy to carry, and a good value. Regarding the flipping action, it typically improves with a short break-in period through regular opening and closing, without any need to adjust the pivot screw. We recommend that users avoid adjusting the pivot, as it’s secured with Loctite and is a key part of our Pushlock mechanism, which differs from typical knife pivots.

On the thumb disk, it’s intentionally designed for those who prefer a slower, more controlled, one-handed deployment rather than a fast flip—while also providing a comfortable point of contact when closing the blade.

Actually lives in my pocket

I’ve bought a few knives over the years and most of them end up sitting in a drawer. The Whidbey Mini is the first one I’ve actually kept in my pocket.

It opens really easily with one hand, and the PushFold close just feels safer than the liner locks I’m used to. I don’t feel like I’m playing finger gymnastics trying to close it.

It’s lightweight and the pocket clip sits low, so it doesn’t stick out or feel bulky. I’ve used it for opening boxes, cutting cord, random stuff around the yard, nothing crazy, just everyday things. The D2 blade feels solid and sharp.

It’s not flashy or tactical-looking. It’s just a really well-designed knife that makes sense for daily use. That’s honestly what I like most about it.
