Not what they used to be.

I've had one of these for 20 years or more and have loved owning it. I bought a new one to have as a spare, and the quality has really slipped. The new one rattles as the candle sleeve doesn't fit tight. The plastic base is sloppy, and it has "Made in China" emblazoned on the bottom. I wish id have never bought a new one. I'd have paid twice the price for one built better.

Our families (3) have collected and used these lanterns for over 15 years. We have about 45 original lanterns between us and we string them all up at the campsite when we car camp. We carry about 2 lanterns each when backpacking. We transport them in the neoprene case. We also have Pac Flat reflectors for each lantern. We have never had a glass chimney to break or a spring to fail. The candles last for hours and burn evenly. They are always handy at home when we lose power during a storm. Most importantly, they are reliable. When packing for a camping trip, they are the first items in the bag!

Great Investment

I purchased my first candle lamp over 10 years ago and I have used it on so many camping adventures and emergency situations its fantastic. It puts out plenty of light and Ive never had the candle get blown out accidentally. The candles work great and are very long burning. The stub you are left with can be used to prime fire tinder so it holds a flame much better. My lantern is still in perfect working condition and it is the original glass still in it. 10/10 for my experiences.
