Easy Campfire Steak Tacos with UCO Gear

Easy Campfire Steak Tacos with UCO Gear

Easy Steak Tacos Over a Campfire or Grill

Few things beat tacos by the fire. They’re simple, fresh, and the perfect way to feed a hungry crew after a long day outdoors. With the right gear, you can make campfire steak tacos in under 30 minutes. Using the UCO Camp Chef Knife, the UCO Smokeless Flatpack Grill and UCO's Cookit Camp Kitchen, you can prep, cook, and serve tacos that taste as good at camp as they do at home.

Ingredients:

 (4 servings / 8 tacos):

  • 1 lb skirt steak

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic – minced with the Paring Knife

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt and pepper

  • 6–8 small tortillas (flour or corn)

  • 2 limes – quartered

  • ½ bunch cilantro – roughly chopped

  • 4 radishes – thinly sliced

  • ½ red onion – diced

  • Optional: avocado slices, cheese, or salsa

Directions

1. Prep the Steak

Coat the skirt steak with olive oil. Mince the garlic with the Camping Chef Knife and rub it in along with chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Set aside while you prepare the fire.

2. Fire Up the Grill

Use Sweetfire Firestarters or Stormproof Matches to get your portable grill going. Once the flames die down and you’ve got hot coals, place the steak directly on the grill grate.

3. Grill the Steak

Cook the steak for 4–6 minutes per side, depending on your preferred doneness. For medium rare, aim for 130–135°F internal temperature. Remove and let it rest for at least 5 minutes to keep it juicy.

4. Chop the Toppings

While the steak cooks, chop cilantro, slice radishes, dice onion, and quarter the limes. The Camp Chef Knife makes quick work of the larger cuts, while the Paring Knife is perfect for more delicate prep.

5. Slice the Steak

After resting, slice the steak thinly across the grain with the Camp Chef Knife. This keeps it tender and easy to bite into when wrapped in a tortilla.

6. Assemble the Tacos

Warm tortillas directly on the grill for about 20 seconds per side. Fill each tortilla with steak, radishes, onion, and cilantro, then top with a squeeze of lime. Serve immediately on the ECO 4-Person Tableware Set.
