Nothing captures the feeling of fall like the warm scent of cinnamon apples cooking over a fire. This Campfire Foil Packet Apple Crisp is the perfect way to end a crisp day outdoors. It’s simple to prepare, fun to cook, and a cozy treat to enjoy around the fire.
Watch video below, Brooke walks us through how to make a classic seasonal dessert using UCO Gear favorites like the Chef and Paring Knives, the Smokeless Firepit Grill & Sweetfire Firestarters, and the 4-Person Table Set. Whether you're out on a weekend camping trip or just cooking in your backyard, this recipe brings comfort and flavor with minimal effort.
What You’ll Need (Serves 4)
- 4 apples, chopped into bite-size chunks
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ cup oats
- ¼ cup flour
- 4 tablespoons butter, cubed
- Pinch of salt
- Heavy-duty foil sheets
- Optional: vanilla ice cream or caramel drizzle if you have a cooler
- Portable grill or open flame
How to Make It
Prep the Apples
Start by using the UCO Camp Chef Knife to chop the apples into small, bite-size pieces. Toss them in a mixing bowl with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Make the Topping
In a separate bowl, mix the oats, flour, butter, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is crumbly.
Assemble the Packets
Divide the apple mixture evenly onto four foil sheets. Sprinkle the oat topping over each pile of apples, then fold and seal the foil packets tightly.
Cook Over the Fire
Place the packets on the grill grate of your UCO Smokeless Firepit. In the video we use our Smokeless Flackpack Grill and Sweetfire Firestarters. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes over medium heat, flipping halfway through, until the apples are soft and bubbling.
Serve
Carefully open each foil packet—there will be steam—and serve directly from the foil or spoon into bowls or UCO camp cups. If you brought a cooler, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel for an extra touch.
This dessert is an easy way to bring the flavors of fall to your next camping trip. It's low on prep, high on comfort, and made even better with the right gear.
